Sometimes, characters will have abilities that require expendable reserves.
Action Points represent a character's ability to act quickly, particularly in the heat of battle. Most characters will start each of their turns with 3 action points. Some weaker or stronger creatures may have less or more respectively. There may also be numerous effects that may briefly reduce or increase the number of action points a creature has.
Hit Points represents a character's ability to persist despite injury, exhaustion or trauma. It includes their physical health as well as their remaining willpower and energy. A character's hit points are determined by totaling their passive attribute scores (minimum of 1). Some talents and items may also grant additional hit points.
Many harmful, exhausting or traumatic events may expend a character's hit points, such as a hostile creature successfully attacking them, or a spell painfully warping their mind. A character at 0 hit points is unable to perform actions because they are unconscious, overwhelmed or dead (determined by the action that reduced it). (specifiy a default result?)
Hit points can be recovered during a rest (link to resting section, 1/4 per SR, 1/2 per LR?), some items and talents will also allow characters to regain hit points.
Stamina Points represent a character's ability to push themselves beyond their normal limits of fitness and endurance.
Some talents will allow a character to use Stamina Points to perform exceptional feats of physicality or to enhance their physical actions and defence. If a character has one of these talents, their base Stamina Points are equal to 1 + their aP modifier (minimum of 0). Some talents and items may also grant additional Stamina Points.

Power Points represent a character's resources for unnatural abilities, such as advanced technology, magic or Ki. These points represent different things for different characters, as such, they will earn and expend these points differently depending on their talents.
Some talents will allow a character to spend Focus Points to perform exceptional feats of science, magic or other supernatural forces. If a character has one of these talents, their base Focus Points are equal to 1 + their aM modifier (minimum of 0). Some talents and items may also grant additional Focus Points.

Charisma Points represnt a character's ability to perform impressive interpersonal actions, such as manipulating emotions and opinions as well as avoiding similar actions from others.
Some talents will allow a character to use Charisma points to perform exceptional feats of social engineering and diplomacy. If a character has one of these talents, their base Charisma Points are equal to 1 + their aS modifier (minimum of 0). Some talents and items may also grant additional Charisma Points.

Tracking five different resources may seem like a lot, however most characters will not need to. All characters use AP for their actions and HP for their vitality, however, most characters will then use either SP, FP or CP for their more specialised abilities. Which a character uses is determined by their Major Talents, rarely will a character use more than one. For example, a knight character with the Warrior talent will use SP for their more specialist martial manuvers. While a wizard with the Elementalist talent will use FP for their spells.
Resting allows characters to recover a number of points, which they can spend to regain HP, SP, FP and CP. The character chooses where to spend these points.
For example, a character might gain 3 points during a rest and choose to spend the time patching wounds and resting, regaining 2 HP and 1 SP. Or they might decide to power through their wounds, consuming food and hyping themselves up to regain 3 SP.
| Rest Type | Duration | Points Recovered | Prerequisite | Quick | 5-10 mins | 1 | The character has not taken a quick break within the last 2 hours.| Short | 1 hour | 1d6+1 | The character has food and water and has not taken a short rest within the last 4 hours.| Medium | 8 hours | 2d6+2 | The character has food, water, and suitable place to sleep or meditate and has not taken a medium rest within the last 16 hours.| Long | 48 hours | 3d6+3 || Prolonged | 7 days | all expended |
